The Thermometry Laboratory is responsible for the dissemination of the International Temperature Scale of 1990 (ITS-90) in Brazil for contact thermometers, in the temperature range from -190 °C to 1084 °C. The laboratory performs primary calibrations of standard platinum resistance thermometer (SPRT) and fixed point cells from -190 °C to 962 °C.

The laboratories of Diter also take every opportunity to participate in international comparisons and key comparisons recognized by the Bureau International des Poids et Mesures (BIPM), which support the inclusion of their Calibration and Measurement Capabilities (CMC) in the Key Comparison DataBase (KCDB ) of the BIPM.
Research activities:
- Project and construction of fixed point cells;
- Project and construction of pure-metal thermocouples (Au-Pt e Pt-Pd);
- Development of metal-carbon eutectic cells for contact thermometry;
