International Recognition

Inmetro is a member of the International Accreditation Forum - IAF, the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation - ILAC, the European Cooperation For Accreditation - EA, the Interamerican Accreditation Cooperation - IAAC and the International Auditor and Training Certification Association - IATCA, international fora dealing with aspects related to accreditation. It also maintains cooperation with regional fora and bodies, and fosters close ties with accreditation bodies from other countries.

The accreditation system operated by Cgcre/Inmetro follows guidelines that provide equivalence to other similar foreign bodies, with which it maintains the following agreements:

* Mutual Recognition Arrangement of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation - ILAC - concerning the activities of accreditation of testing and calibration laboratories;

* Bilateral Agreement with the European Cooperation for Accreditation - EA - concerning the activities of accreditation of testing and calibration laboratories;

* Multilateral Recognition Arrangement of the International Accreditation Forum - IAF - concerning the activities of accreditation of quality management systems certification bodies;

* Multilateral Recognition Arrangement of the Interamerican Accreditation Cooperation - IAAC - concerning the activities of accreditation of testing and calibration laboratories and quality management systems certification bodies.
