Activities Performed

The accreditation of an organization is voluntary and represents the formal recognition of its competence to perform specific services.
The activities of accreditation of Cgcre are based on international guidance documents, criteria, and standards complemented, wherever necessary, by national standards or by additional criteria established jointly with specific sectors.

These rules were established by the Resolutions of Conmetro, which defines the policies and guidelines documents of the Brazilian Conformity Assessment System - SBAC.
Additionally to the already mentioned rules, the following particularities also apply:

* the scopes of accreditation for Quality Management Systems certification bodies comprehend the 39 scopes defined by the International Accreditation Forum - IAF, complemented by the NACE Code;

* the scopes of accreditation for product certification bodies are granted, according to a standard or technical regulation, for each single product;

* the scopes of accreditation for inspection and training bodies are granted for specific field and activity, respectively;

* the laboratories accreditation may be granted for permanent, temporary or mobile facilities;

* the accreditation of calibration laboratories is granted for a specific list of services within a field in Metrology, including ranges and best measurement capabilities;

* the accreditation of testing laboratories is granted for each test performed, to comply with a specific standard or to comply with a testing method developed by the laboratory itself.
