Developed
The accreditation of an institution by the
General Coordination of Accreditation (Cgcre) is voluntary, and
represents the formal recognition of its competence to carry out
services that are object of the accreditation. The Cgcre/Inmetro
approves bodies responsible for certification, inspection, performance
checking of a product and of training, as well as laboratories,
in accordance with the following basic guidelines:

a- This sort of accreditation includes
the following systems: management, products and personnel. It is
granted based on rules and international guidelines, or even recognized
by the Brazilian System of Conformity Assessment and, when it is
the case, by additional criteria established by Cgcre/Inmetro, after
consulting the specific sector, or through documents formally recognized
by the General Coordination.
The accreditation of bodies of certification of management system
is granted based on the IAF codes; The accreditation of bodies of
products system is granted product by product. For reasons of compulsory
certification, technical rules are used, while for the voluntary
certification, Brazilian, international, regional or overseas rules
are adopted through the concept of adjustment levels; The accreditation
of bodies of system of personnel is granted by activity.

Inspection Bodies
Such accreditation is granted by area of activity, based on international
rules and on additional criteria set by Cgcre/Inmetro, after consulting
the specific sector.
c- Training Bodies Such accreditation
is granted by specific activity, based on international rules and
guidelines, with documents originated from overseas forums and,
whenever is the case, from additional criteria set by General Coordination
of Accreditation, after consulting the specific sector.
d-
Bodies responsible for checking the performance of a product Such
accreditation is granted to bodies that certify products accredited
by General Coordination of Accreditation, and which meet the additional
criteria set by the coordination, meeting the demands made by the
regulating bodies.
e-
Laboratories Such accreditation is granted based on international
rules and on additional criteria set by Cgcre/Inmetro, after consulting
the specific sector. - Accreditation of calibration laboratories
is granted by a Metrology specialty for a determined list of services,
including measuring ranges and better measuring capacities. - Accreditation
of test laboratories is granted following each test, upon meeting
a specific rule or a method of testing developed by the laboratory
itself.
